OPPORTUNITIES AT COLUMBIA
C2FMC2FM Spring Kick-Off!
Info: Climate Co-Founder Matching (C2FM) is a platform that helps aspiring climate founders across Columbia meet their co-founder. C2FM is hosting a spring semester kick-off happy hour on Friday, Feb. 6th to introduce C2FM, reconnect after the break, and meet others who are serious about building in climate.

This is not founder speed matching, just good conversations and a preview of our upcoming events (founder speed matching, GridTech hackathons, casual build nights, and breakfast-with-builders).

This event is open to all C2FM members, Columbia-affiliated grad students, alumni, and faculty, especially folks who are new to C2FM and want to see what the community is about. Expect casual conversation, good people, and zero pressure.

UPCOMING EVENTS AT COLUMBIA
Extraction: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism - Thea Riofrancos Book Talk
Date: Monday, February 2, 2026
Time: 12:45-1:45 P
Where: Interchurch Center, 475 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10115, Sockman Lounge, Lobby Level (ALL GUESTS MUST ENTER THROUGH the 61 Claremont Ave entrance, 120th St)

Extraction: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism is an in-depth analysis into the growing industry of green technologies and the environmental, social, and political consequences of the mining it requires.

In the fight against climate change, lithium's role in reducing emissions by powering green economies is a mixed blessing. While an unregulated mining boom could inflict irreversible harm, Riofrancos offers compelling ideas about how to harmonize climate action with social justice. Across the world’s extractive frontiers, we encounter the most brutal aspects of capitalism—but also witness inspiring visions for our planetary future.

Thea Riofrancos is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Providence College, a Strategic Co-Director of the Climate and Community Institute, and a fellow at the Transnational Institute.
